Q: Can I reserve boats for my friends or a large group?
A: You're welcome to reserve boats for you and your friends or a group as long as you are willing to pay for them 48 hours in advance of your trip. It is your responsibility to collect the money and either pay us cash or we are happy to run your Visa, MC, or Discover card for the full amount reserved. Sorry there are no refunds within 48 hours of your trip for friends who change their schedule and decide to cancel so be careful who you consider a friend.

Q: Is there an age restriction?
A: Yes, your child must be at least 6 years old. Each child has different skill levels and it doesn't matter if they can swim or not, it's a matter of them defending themselves in swift moving water. If in doubt, hire a baby sitter and make it a date. Then after your trip decide if your child is old enough to enjoy a Coosa River Adventure.
** A parent or guardian MUST sign the release form for a child.

Q: How many people can fit in one canoe?
A: Canoe's are designed for two paddlers, one in front and one in the rear. Our canoes have a block of foam in the center of the boat to help should you tip over. Its purpose helps prevent canoes from getting 'pinned' on the rocks and it's less water to bail out. The foam block limits the canoe's space to carry any additional paddlers.

Q: Can I bring my own food and drink?
A: Yes, you can. There are several islands you can stop at during your adventure the most popular being Mocassin Gap, a rocky boney island about mid way through your trip. Mocassin Gap makes for a logical stopping spot as the right side is the largest rapid on the Coosa. At lower water flows numerous sand bars exist. Just remember: no glass containers. Pack it In, Pack it Out!

Q: Are "coolers" allowed?
A: Coolers are allowed. It's best to pack small to medium size coolers as they are easier to tote. Remember no styrofoam or glass! The best coolers are the soft sided type that “zipper” or "velcro" closed. Several “small” coolers are easier to secure to the boats (bungee cords work great). Abandon the idea of one large cooler for the entire group. If it has wheels or says YETI you're going the wrong direction. Plus the large coolers are heavy with ice and the lids often pop open littering the river with your food and drinks.

Q: Is alcohol allowed?
The Coosa is a great family environment and we respect your rights to partake in an "adult beverage of choice". Drink responsibly! Absolutely no glass containers!

Q: What should/shouldn't I bring on the trip?
A: You can bring anything that you are not worried about getting wet or LOSING. Some suggestions are: Plenty of water, sunscreen, bungee cords to secure your cooler and solid footwear as the Coosa is a rocky based river. Some things to leave behind are: Keys, Electronics (Cell phones, digital cameras, IPODs, etc), large sums of money, expensive eyewear, and jewelry. Leave the towels in the car where they will stay dry! Bring a change of clothes for when you return from your trip. We sell waterproof cameras and also carry waterproof boxes in different shapes and sizes in case you want to take your personal electronic devices, medications, or cigarettes (Zip bags just don't work!).

Q: What about canceling a trip?
A; If you need to cancel simply call us! Renting boats is how we make our living... to keep costs down give us the opportunity to rent your boat to the next person in line. We've made reserving a boat easy but abuse of our reservation system will result in your name on the dreaded "no show" list.

Q: What about the weather?
A; This is the south and thunderstorms can creep up just as fast as they disappear. We track live weather radar ourselves so if you feel you need to cancel just call us. Storms are often fast moving so you may want to move your departure time versus cancel for the entire day. We are always happy to provide current conditions and keep you up to date on Coosa River weather forcasts. It may be raining where you live but it may not be raining here on the Coosa. Just remember - "If you're only going to walk on sunny days you will never reach your destination" and "you can't experience the rainbow without a little rain".

Keep the
Coosa Clean!
Do your part and preserve the Coosa's beauty. Some facts: It takes 400 years for a plastic 6 pack ring to decompose. During this time, fish and other wildlife may easily become entangled in the rings. In addition to being unsightly, plastics, fishing line, aluminum cans, glass bottles, and other debris also pose a threat to wildlife and the natural habitat.
